ORNITHOLOGY: AN IN-DEPTH STUDY OF BIRDS  is a great course for novice and intermediate birders alike.  It’s also a wonderful place for photographers to learn more about their subjects.

In 4 weeks we’ll cover topics including anatomy, physiology, migration, song and flight in the Tuesday evening lectures. Saturday field trips are filled with bird identification, behavior observations and tips on how to find those birds you seek. We usually travel by carpool to our field trip sites all within an hour of Ann Arbor.

Beginning the first week of April, the class consists of 4 weeks of Tuesday evening lectures, 7:00 PM - 9:00 PM,  in the community room at the Ann Arbor REI and Saturday morning field trips. Plan on field trips beginning at 7-8 AM. We try to end as close to noon as possible. Sometimes everyone may not make it to all the classes and field trips. We definitely understand and will do our best to be sure you can makeup any topics you miss.
As in previous years, the class size will be limited to 20 individuals. We have sold out for 5 years in a row, so registering as early as you can is advisable
